  • Passive Fire Protection

Active Fire Protection (AFP)

The Active Fire Protection includes Emulsi fire System (smoke and heat sensing), Hydrant System, Fire Engines and Fire Alarm System. But in High rise Buildings especially the Active Fire Protection proved to be ineffective in big fires against containing the fire, protecting the occupants and buildings due to manual intervention in fire hydrant systems, limited water availability in building premises and finally depends on fire engines loosing precious time.

Passive Fire Protection (PFP)

Due to ineffectiveness of active fire protection, the Passive Fire Protection is stipulated in developed countries in tandem with active fire protection. The PFP envisages safety of Building Occupants, Building protection, limiting the fire restricted to small areas.

The PFP includes fire walls, fire doors, intumescent paint to structures, etc. which in case of fire restricts the spread to localize and provide fire protection more than 2 hours, by that time the occupants can escape by limiting the fire and smoke to compartmental and alerting the active fire protection, the fire is successfully restricted and not to spread to the adjacent compartments.

All this is done without any manual intervention. The intumescent paint protects the structures by forming a protective shield to the structures.

BuildStone MgO Wall Panel

BBMPH’s BuildStone MgO Wall Panel gives ideal application for Passive Fire Protection due to its inbuilt magnesium (melting temp. 2800oC) and vermiculite (melting temp. 1350oC) and CLC core gives 4 hours fire withholding temperature so that all occupants can escape.

The compartmental restriction of fire by MgO side walls, ceiling, flooring substrate and effectively limits the fire to small area and active fire fighting system can extinguish the fire. The additional advantage is the surface looks like white marble (saving finishing cost), not allowing radiation to pass through, absorbing CO2 in the room, absorbing the sound wave without reflection, insulates the room (saving energy bills), chloride, asbestos, formaldehyde free substance, water and rodent proof.

Also the customer gets 2 sq.ft. of marble surface for every 1 sq.ft. purchase of wall panel at an additional nominal cost. (2 sq.ft. of marbonite surface worth Rs.240/- at an additional cost of Rs.40/-). Epoxy based transparent colours or varnish or paints or lamination is liable to this surface.

This is ideal application of MgO marbonite to surface panel wherever wall panel is proposed apart from Passive Fire Protection.
